INTERIOR LAYOUT AWARD – MOTOR YACHTS

Awarded to the designers of a qualifying sailing yacht that, in the opinion of the judges, offers well-sized and pleasantly proportioned spaces together with full operational functionality, while displaying a properly balanced division of volume between guest, crew and technical areas. Judges will take into account the volume devoted to stores and service areas (including crew living areas, galleys, pantries, and laundries) in relation to the volume of areas devoted to the owner and his guests; the size of individual areas, their inter-connectivity and discrete functionality; the service flow; access to technical areas; and innovative ideas.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Entrants are asked to provide:

• Details of the Yacht including, Name, LOA, Builder, and Delivery Date.

• Designer Statement outlining the owner’s design brief in respect of the yacht’s interior requirements i.e. number of cabins, saloons and other spaces, and how you met this (maximum length of one A4 page).

• General Arrangement Plan of the yacht, preferably coloured to indicate owner-specific, guest, crew, service, and technical areas.

• Sketches or Renderings (up to three pages of A4) to illustrate the development of the design, if available.

• Photographs. Please illustrate your entry with one digital exterior photograph and up to 10 interior photographs for yachts of less than 45 metres in length, and 15 photographs for yachts of more than this length. Photographs should have a short caption to indicate their subject.

Winner to be proposed by the General Arrangement Sub-Committee (which will be chaired by a prominent Interior Designer who does not have a yacht nominated for this event) and ratified by the full jury in London on Friday 11 May 2012.
